D.W. Rutledge arrived on the TLC campus in the fall of 1971 and was a member of Coach Wacker’s first Bulldog football team.  For the next four years, he was a mainstay on defense for the Bulldogs and was a key member of the 1974 national championship team.  He was a captain of the 1974 team and that same year he was the recipient of the prestigious Thomas Eddy Award and was named a member of the Kodak and Lutheran All-American Teams.
