SEGUIN, Texas -- After missing all of the 2024-25 season due to a knee injury,
Davi'Yanna Jones (San Antonio/Stevens) has reestablished herself on the floor and shown why she was a two-time All-SCAC honoree over her first two seasons at Texas Lutheran.
Jones was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday night for the second time in her career with the last instance coming in 2023.
The 5-8 stretch forward led the Bulldogs to a 76-56 win over Concordia (TX) to open conference play on Friday. Jones finished with a career-high 23 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals while shooting 83 percent from the field (10-of-12) and making her lone three-point attempt.
The 23 point effort was her second 20-plus point effort of the season and of her career. She is the second Bulldog to earn the Offensive Player of the Week honor this season and third Bulldog to earn a weekly honor.
Jones is currently fourth in the SCAC in field goal percentage with a 52.7 percent field goal percentage on the season.
Jones and TLU (6-4) will return to action against Concordia (TX) on Monday, January 5 at Memorial Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 1 PM. The game will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
