AUSTIN, Texas -- The #RV Texas Lutheran Bulldogs started Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC play with a 76-56 win over the Concordia (TX) Tornados on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs move to 6-4 (1-0 SCAC) on the season; TLU outrebounded Concordia (TX) (2-8, 0-1 SCAC) 44-39 on Friday.

Davi'Yanna Jones (San Antonio/Stevens) dominated on Friday, finishing with a career-high 23 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Senior
Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) added 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals to the final tally. Senior
Hannah Gallegos (San Antonio/Harlan) matched her career-high with nine points in addition to three rebounds off the bench.
After the Tornados split a pair of free throws to start the scoring, a three from
Kayla Presley (Kyle/San Marcos) got the Bulldogs on the board. The Tornados would hold a 7-4 lead before a layup from
Davi'Yanna Jones and a three from Austin-native
Jaidyn Treviño (Austin/Akins) gave the Bulldogs a 9-7 lead with 5:30 remaining. The Bulldogs would never relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game. Jones led the Bulldogs with seven of the teams 16 points in the first as the Bulldogs led 16-12 after one.
As the Tornados tried to keep the game close and cut away at the Bulldogs lead,
Hannah Gallegos took over for the TLU offense with nine points on three threes in the second quarter.
Texas Lutheran led 35-26 at the half as the Bulldogs shot 37.1 percent to the Tornados 28 percent.
Back-to-back baskets from
Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet) started the scoring in the third quarter to give TLU a 39-28 lead. The Bulldogs began to pull away in the third as they outscored the Tornados 17-9 in the period led by seven points from
Lauren Sansano.
The Bulldogs ended the game on a high note, shooting a game-high 61.1 percent from the field in the period with seven people scoring in the quarter. Jones led the Bulldogs with nine points in the quarter to cap off her career day. The Bulldogs led by as many as 27 points in the final quarter.
The Bulldogs finished shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 32 percent from three. They scored 38 points in the paint to Concordia's 26 while adding 32 bench points. TLU led in assist margin 14-6.
Following the Christmas break, Texas Lutheran will have a rematch with Concordia (TX) on Monday, January 5 at Memorial Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 1 PM. The game will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
