BELTON, Texas -- The #RV Texas Lutheran women's basketball team fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor, 76-65, in non-conference action Sunday evening at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
Davi'Yanna Jones (San Antonio/Stevens) led the Bulldogs with 19 points and added six rebounds and two steals. Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) was the only other starter in double figures, finishing with 11 points, two steals, and a team-high four assists. Jaidyn Treviño (Austin/Akins) led the Bulldogs bench with a season-high 11 points, three steals, and two assists in her first double-digit effort as a Bulldog.
It was a tightly contested first quarter that saw the Crusaders carry a 15-13 lead into the second quarter.
The Crusaders offense came alive for 27 points in the second quarter as they were able to pull away from TLU to take a 42-26 lead into the halftime break.
The explosive second quarter from UMHB would prove to doom the Bulldogs. Despite trailing by as many as 21 points, the Bulldogs would chip away in the third, out scoring UMHB by four but would never come closer than six as the Crusaders used 12 threes to keep the Bulldogs at a distance.
The Crusaders shot nearly 50 percent from the field and 52 percent from beyond the arc while holding an uncharacteristic +11 rebound advantage over the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will return to the floor in less than 24 hours as they return to Seguin for the first time this season on Monday, December 1 against #RV Hardin-Simmons for their 2025-26 home opener at Memorial Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM with the game being streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
