LA CROSSE, WI – The No. 20 Texas Lutheran men's track and field team opened competition at the 2026 NCAA Division-III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Thursday at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex on the campus of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Before even stepping on the track on Thursday, the previously christened "Freshman Four" comprised of sophomores Braylen Brown (San Antonio/Randolph), Eden Perez (Hebbronville/Hebbronville), Caden Keller (McAllen/McAllen) and Gavino Ramirez (Alice/Alice) made history as the first Bulldogs to represent Texas Lutheran in the men's 4x400m relay at the NCAA Championships.
The relay team were the lone competitors for TLU on Thursday as they ran in the 4x400m relay prelims Thursday, entering competition as the final qualifying team among the 16 qualifiers.
Before the Bulldogs could get going, there was drama before the starting gun as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was disqualified for a false start - shrinking their heat to seven teams. The team finished sixth in heat two and 14th overall with a time of 3:13.45, missing the qualifying mark for Saturday's championship final by 1.69 seconds.
Brown and Perez will return to the track again tomorrow evening for prelims in the 400m dash and 4x100m relay respectively.
Parker Cabra (Schertz/Randolph) will kick off the action tomorrow for TLU as he will represent the Bulldogs in the high jump final at 11 AM. Texas Lutheran will also compete in the 4x100m relay and the 400m dash Friday evening.
