SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's track and field program swept Tuesday evening's conference honors, the conference announced - sweeping the sixth week of the weekly awards for the 2026 season.
Junior Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) was named SCAC Tri-Track Athlete of the Week after breaking yet another school record at the J.G. Gonzales Memorial Invitational. Combs won the 5000m run with a time of 18:08.49. In the process, Combs broke the program record in the event that was previously held by Gabriele Strauss for 47 years (18:11.76, 1979). Combs won the event by over ten seconds for her second win in the event in three weeks.
Ciarah Garcia (Pleasanton/Pleasanton) was named SCAC Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career. Garcia was responsible for the Bulldogs other event win on Friday, winning the triple jump with a mark of 11.30m (37' 1"). With the winning mark, Garcia shot up the national leaderboard, as she currently ranks 23rd nationally in the event. Garcia also finished ninth overall and sixth amongst Division-III sprinters in the 200m dash with a time of 25.87 seconds.
The honors are firsts for both Combs and Garcia.
Texas Lutheran will travel to Abilene, the site of the 2026 SCAC Championships, for the War Hawk Classic hosted by McMurry University next week starting on Friday, April 10.
