ABILENE, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs concluded competition at the SCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday, ultimately claiming four medals on the meet's final day. The TLU women claimed third place in the team standings, tallying 134 points over the course of the three-day meet.
For the second straight day,
Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) got the Bulldogs on the podium early, finishing third in the 5K with a time of 18:19.66.
As the meet neared the lunch hour, the Bulldogs struck again, finishing second in the 4x100m relay as the team comprised of
Ciarah Garcia (Pleasanton/Pleasanton),
Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen),
Hazel Bowman (Killeen/Shoemaker) and
Mikayla Kidney (San Antonio/SA Patriots) clocked in with a season-best time of 49.04 seconds.
In her final appearance at the SCAC Championships, senior
Kamilah Tanner (Killeen/Shoemaker) ran a personal-best time of 1:06.4 in the 400m hurdles to finish second.
Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial) narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the 1500m run with a time of 4:56.25. Malbrough would also add a fourth place finish in the 800m run, clocking in at 2:27.28.
Madison Wright (San Antonio/Lee) collected her lone medal of the weekend on Sunday, finishing third in the discus throw with a season-best mark of 37.12m (121-09).

The Bulldogs will compete intermittently over the course of the next month as they prepare for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin, May 21-23, starting with the Trinity Last Chance meet on Sunday, May 10.
