ABILENE, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran track and field team competed in the 2026 War Hawk Classic hosted by McMurry University, the hosts of the 2026 SCAC Championships, over the course of two days in Abilene. The meet did not completely finish due to weather.
Ciarah Garcia (Pleasanton/Pleasanton), who earned SCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors this week, finished sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 59.21 while Katie Kostelnik (Hallettsville/Sacred Heart Catholic) finished eighth in 1:00.30.
The 4x100m relay team comprised of Garcia, Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen), Hazel Bowman (Killeen/Shoemaker) and Mikayla Kidney (San Antonio/SA Patriots) finished third overall and first among Division-III teams with a time of 49.06 seconds, the second fastest time in the SCAC this season.
Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial) finished second overall and first among Division-III runners in the 1500m run at 4:54.14.
In throws, Laura Sierra (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic) finished seventh in shot put with a mark of 11.61m (38' 1.25"). Kirsten Smith (Yoakum/Yoakum) finished eighth in the javelin throw (30.08m, 98' 8") and tenth in the discus throw (34.89m, 114' 6"). Madison Wright (San Antonio/Lee) added ninth place finishes in the javelin throw (29.75m, 97' 7") and discus throw (35.55m, 116' 7").
