SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran scored eight times over the first three innings, cruising to a 12-1 run-rule victory over Southwestern on Tuesday night at Katt-Isbel Field.
The Bulldogs (21-9) tallied runs in three of their six trips to the plate, highlighted by a six-run second.
Shortstop
Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) led the charge, as the senior totaled a two-hit effort and a career-best five RBI.
Bourgeois delivered a bases clearing double as part of the crooked number in the second, before notching a two-RBI double to cap off his career night.
Meanwhile,
Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) plated two runs while
Caleb Alfaro (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic),
Caleb Small (Round Rock/Gateway College Preparatory), and
Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays) were each responsible for driving in a run.
On the mound, Texas Lutheran used three pitchers to hold the Pirates (6-21) to just one run on five hits.
Senior
Carter Conroy (Spring/Klein Cain) (1-0) earned the win, allowing just one hit over 3.2 innings while striking out two. Sophomore right-handers
Carson Hues (Mont Belvieu/Barbers Hill) and
Chase Hallmark (Seguin/Marion) combined to close the game for the Bulldogs with Hallmark making his first collegiate appearance on the mound.
