#RV Baseball Splits with Hendrix

The Longhorns will look to win the series on Saturday at 1 p.m.

CONWAY, AR -- After dropping the series opener to Hendrix 13-4, #RV Texas Lutheran Baseball hammered out 16 runs on 14 hits to beat the Warriors, 16-4, to split Friday's doubleheader and even the series at Warrior Baseball Field in Conway, Arkansas.

Texas Lutheran dropped the series opener, 13-4, after a six-run sixth inning by the Warriors.

Caleb Alfaro (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic) put the Bulldogs ahead in the third with an RBI double before Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) made it a 2-0 lead with an RBI single.

Hendrix answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

An RBI single from Aiden Spires (Fort Worth/Arlington Heights) cut the lead to 4-3 before Spires tied the game at four by scoring on a passed ball.

A TLU error led to the Warriors regaining the lead in the fifth before they added to lead in a big way in the sixth, forcing the Bulldogs to throw four pitchers in the inning and taking a 11-4 lead with six runs on three hits, three free passes, and two errors.

Hendrix outscored TLU 9-0 from the fifth inning on.

Texas Lutheran put up crooked numbers in five of the seven innings played in Friday's second contest as TLU registered a 16-4 run-rule victory. The run-rule victory is the sixth of the season.

Texas Lutheran scored in six of its seven trips to the plate against the Warriors (19-13), highlighted by four runs in the first and five runs in the sixth. The Bulldogs sent the entire lineup to the plate in both innings.

In the victory, all nine starting position players reached safely, as Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls), Brayden Sprencel, Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial), Cole Cravens (Round Rock/Round Rock), and Michael Barerra (San Antonio/East Central) all notched multi-hit performances led by Cravens' 4-for-4 outing.

Sprencel led the Bulldogs with four RBI in game two. Bourgeois and Cravens scored three runs each.

Freshman Jack Grames (Elgin/Elgin) went the distance in the contest for his second complete game of the season. Grames struck out three and walked four while allowing four runs on nine hits to earn his SCAC leading seventh win of the season.

The Bulldogs (22-10, 16-7 SCAC) will have a chance to win the series on Saturday at 1 PM. The game will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
