SHREVEPORT, LA -- No. 5 Texas Lutheran (25-3, 17-1 SCAC) opened their Louisiana road trip with a 9-1 victory over Centenary (14-13, 12-7 SCAC) in Shreveport on Thursday.
The Bulldogs strung together runs in four of the seven innings to beat the Ladies. Texas Lutheran pushed one across in the first and second innings before scoring four in the fourth and three in the seventh.
Seniors
Serena Gonzalez (Corpus Christi/Foy H. Moody) and
Harleigh Russell (Fort Worth/Boswell) drove in two runs each while
Riley Davila (Angleton/Angleton),
Brey Jones (San Antonio/Brennan), and
Taylor Vannett (Kingwood/Kingwood) all brought in one.
Gonzalez started the scoring in the first on an RBI double to bring in fellow senior
Taylor Vannett, who got aboard via a two-out double.
In the second,
Harleigh Russell stole home to extend the TLU lead to 2-0.
Jones ripped an RBI single to right field to score
Ashley McMahon (Las Vegas, NV/Durango) to get the scoring started in the fourth.
Riley Davila drew a bases loaded walk to tack on another run before an RBI single from Vannett and a sacrifice fly from Gonzalez plated the final two runs of the inning for the Bulldogs.
Kayla Ramirez (Kingsville/Santa Gertrudis Academy) scored on a two-base throwing error on her stolen base attempt before
Harleigh Russell put the game out of reach with a two-run opposite field homer to bring the final score to 9-1, Texas Lutheran.
Senior
Katelyn Howard (Waller/Hempstead) collected her 14th win of the season in the circle, going the distance and striking out three.
On the night, seven Bulldogs registered a hit with five bringing in at least one run. Vannett finished 3-for-3 to continue her hot start to 2026 while
Brey Jones went 2-for-3.
Texas Lutheran returns to the field Friday afternoon in Shreveport for a doubleheader with the Ladies to wrap the series. First pitch is set for 12 and 2 PM. The games will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
