SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran softball senior Taylor Vannett (Kingwood/Kingwood) has been selected as Texas Lutheran's nominee for the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Woman of the Year. The SCAC announced the eight nominees on Thursday.

In her four years in Seguin, Vannett excelled on and off the field for Texas Lutheran and has been an exceptional representative of the TLU softball program.

A 2026 NFCA Second Team All-American, Vannett had a career year at the plate for the Bulldogs. The Kingwood, Texas, product started 45 of TLU's 48 games this season and drove in a single-season best 66 runs that ranked sixth in the country and established a new TLU and SCAC single-season record in the process. She hit .438 with a .642 slugging percentage and 66 RBI to go with three home runs and a team-high 17 doubles, helping TLU to a second straight Super Regional appearance.

In the classroom, Vannett is a 2026 CSC Second Team Academic-All American and a four-time SCAC Academic Honor Roll honoree. She graduated in May 2026 with a degree in n Kinesiology (Rehab Science) with a minor in biology, completing her undergraduate studies with a 3.96 GPA. She was a six-time member of the TLU President's List. Vannett is currently pursuing her doctorate in physical therapy University of Texas Medical Branch.

The Bulldog catcher is active in the community and on the TLU campus. In 2025, Vannett was recognized by the SCAC for her work with the Texas Lions camp. On campus, she's helped with campus move-in and giving campus tours as a TLU admissions ambassador in addition to her contributions to TLU's peer mentor program and being a member of TLU's President's Council all while still being involved in different community service opportunities off campus. Vannett also served as the president of TLU Helping Hands in 2023.
