SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran erased an early two-run hole to notch a 6-2 victory over Concordia (TX) in front of the TLU faithful Thursday night at Katt-Isbel Field.
The Bulldogs (25-10, 18-7 SCAC) were held quiet through six frames, but Texas Lutheran scored six unanswered to mount its eighth comeback win of the season.
Concordia plated two runs in the third inning; despite 11 hits on the night, that would be their only offense, stranding nine runners.
In the seventh, an RBI fielder's choice from
Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) cut the lead in half before
Aiden Spires (Fort Worth/Arlington Heights) tied the game by scoring on a dropped third strike.
An inning later, the Bulldogs put a four-spot on the board.
Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays) drew a bases loaded walk to break the tie before back-to-back sacrifice flies from Spires and Bourgeois gave the Bulldogs a 5-2 lead.
Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) added one final insurance run with an RBI single.
Right-hander
Triston McGowan (Vidor/Vidor) punched out a season-high five across eight innings to earn the win, his seventh of the season. McGowan allowed two runs on 11 hits and a walk.
Meanwhile,
Cody Andrade (Calallen/Calallen) pitched the final frame to lock down the win. Andrade recorded the final three outs to log his sixth save this season, which marks the most saves by a freshman in TLU baseball history.
