QUANTICO, MD -- The Texas Lutheran's women's golf team carded a 90-over 378 during its first round at the 2026 Sea Gull Invitational hosted by Salisbury University at Green Hill Country Club in Quantico, Maryland, on Saturday as they sit in second place heading into day two of the tournament.
Salisbury sits in first place in the team race with a 34-stroke lead over the Bulldogs at 56-over 344.
Texas Lutheran sophomore Belle Asbury (San Antonio/Davenport) fired off an 11-over (83) opening round to sit in second place and three strokes back of first place entering the final round. Lillian Niemeyer (Conroe/Conroe) trails Asbury by five strokes to sit in a tie for third place. Junior Jordyn Ponewash (Flatonia/Flatonia) joins them in the top ten at 20-over par to sit in sole possession of eighth place.
Freshman Shayla Huynh (Grand Rapids, MI/Steele) finished 17th at 43-over par.
The Bulldogs will begin their final round tomorrow at 8 AM CT at Green Hill Country Club. Live stats will be available here.
