SEGUIN, Texas -- After the CenTex Invite was cut short due to weather a few weeks ago, Texas Lutheran track and field completed its first full meet of outdoor season, hosting the annual TLU Invite at Bulldog Stadium this weekend where the host Bulldogs won five events.
The TLU sprint and relays teams dominated the action on Saturday.
The 100m dash was tightly contested with two Bulldogs at the top as freshman
Tavion Parrish (Kyle/Johnson) won the event with a time 10.60 with
Hezekiah McDow (Goliad/Weiss) following close behind at 10.62 seconds. After finishing second in the 100m dash, McDow would win the 200m dash with a time of 20.92 seconds, breaking the program record for the event previously held by Elijah Jefferson (21.05, 2023).
Caden Keller (McAllen/McAllen) continued the Bulldogs dominance by winning the 400m dash with a time of 48.43 seconds.
David Hinojosa (Edinburg/McAllen) joined Keller in the top five of the 400m with a time of 49.31 to finish fifth.
Texas Lutheran swept the relay portion of the meet with the 4x400m relay team comprised of Hinojosa, Keller,
Eden Perez (Hebbronville/Hebbronville), and
Gavino Ramirez (Alice/Alice) won the event with a time of 3:17.55, a time that ranks fourth nationally. Perez and Hinojosa joined Parrish and McDow to win the 4x100m relay with a time of 41.11 seconds, ranking third nationally.
Amir McClain (Converse/Veterans Memorial) completed the super jump double, winning both the triple and long jumps this weekend. McClain won the long jump with a mark of 6.98m (22' 11") and the triple jump with a mark of 14.60m (47' 11"), that ranks second nationally and broke his own program record in the process.
Nell Horton (Detroit, MI/East English Village Prep) was the runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 13.06m (42' 10.25").
Rickey Franks (Rockport/Rockport-Fulton), the 2025 SCAC Champion in the 400m hurdle, won the event on Saturday with a time of 55.36 seconds.
Terry Barnes (San Marcos/San Marcos) finished third in the 800m run with a time 1:59.64 while
Ramiro Galvan (Seguin/Seguin) finished fifth at 2:00.45.
Jonas Martinez (Edinburg/Homeschool) ran the 5000m run in 15:32.98 to finish second and added a fifth place finish in the 1500m run with a time of 4:15.77.
Parker Cabra (Schertz/Randolph) finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.78 seconds and also added a runner-up finish in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m (6' 6.75").
In throws,
Jaxson Griscom (San Antonio/Randolph) finished second to former Bulldog
Cutter Clancy who competed unattached in the javelin throw with a mark of 47.85m (157' 0").
Beau Hill (Salado/Salado) and
Ian Wollard (Round Rock/Cedar Ridge) finished third and fourth respectively in the hammer throw with marks of 44.00m (144' 4") and 40.82m (133' 11").
