SEGUIN, Texas -- The No. 8 Texas Lutheran softball team picked up a Top 25 victory on Friday as they took down the 19th-ranked St. Thomas Celts 5-2 at Ed Kruse Stadium.
Cady Bowyer (Fulshear/Jordan) led the Bulldog (6-0, 4-0 SCAC) offense on Friday night, finishing 1-for-3 with a two-run homer - her second of the season.
Caelee Clark (Montgomery/Lake Creek),
Riley Davila (Angleton/Angleton), and
Serena Gonzalez (Corpus Christi/Foy H. Moody) all finished with two hits each with Davila and Gonzalez driving in a run each.
After coming up empty in the first inning, the Bulldogs got on the board in the second inning. After a lead-off single from Gonzalez, it looked like she would be stranded at first before Bowyer connected with a two-out, two-run opposite field home run.

Caelee Clark.
A sacrifice fly from
Taylor Vannett (Kingwood/Kingwood) and an RBI single from Gonzalez scored the final runs of the game from the Bulldogs in the fifth inning.
St. Thomas responded with runs in the sixth and seventh inning to avoid the shutout in the series opener.
In the circle, senior
Katelyn Howard (Waller/Hempstead), the back-to-back SCAC Pitcher of the Week, improved to 5-0. She allowed one run on seven hits while striking out four and walking one.
Sophomore
Jordyn Stuessy (Garden Ridge/Davenport) came into close in the final inning, allowing one run on two hits and striking out one.
TLU continues SCAC play on Saturday, wrapping the series with the Celts with a doubleheader. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 12 and 2 PM. The games will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
