LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's track and field team competed in the Jarvis Scott Open this weekend at the Texas Tech-Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock to conclude the indoor season. TLU would be the lone Division-III team competing in the meet.
Sophomore All-American
Braylen Brown (San Antonio/Randolph) broke the program record in the indoor 400m dash with a time of 48.46, eclipsing the previous record of 48.57 (Marquis Brown, 2017). The time was good enough for Brown to win his section which was otherwise all Division-I sprinters.
Two Bulldogs broke the previous record of 1:17.41 in the 600-yard run that was previously also held by Marquis Brown (2015). Freshman
Sammy Bode (Seguin/Seguin) set the new record mark at 1:15.74 to finish 18th while
Terry Barnes (Cleveland, OH/San Marcos) also bested the previous mark at 1:16.13.
The Texas Lutheran 4x400m relay squad comprised of Brown,
Eden Perez (Hebbronville/Hebbronville),
Gavino Ramirez (Alice/Alice), and
Caden Keller (McAllen/McAllen) continue to impress in the build up to outdoor season as they broke their own record set just a week ago with a time of 3:16.08, cutting four whole seconds off last week's time.
Jonas Martinez (Edinburg/Homeschool) finished 25th in the 3000m run with a time of 9:08.67.
