LAKE CHARLES, LA -- The Texas Lutheran men's track and field team opened its indoor season Friday at the McNeese Indoor Invite at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The meet was mostly comprised of Division-I and Division-II teams with LeTourneau, Southwestern, and Texas Lutheran representing Division-III.
The TLU 4x400m relay team comprised of
Eden Perez (Hebbronville/Hebbronville),
David Hinojosa (Edinburg/McAllen),
Terry Barnes (San Marcos/San Marcos), and led by All-American 400m sprinter
Braylen Brown blew past the competition, including Division-I McNeese State, to win their first race of the season with a time of 3:26.65. The time gives the group a top 50 time in the country after their first race of the season.
The Bulldogs put on an impressive performance in the 200m dash as well led by a third place finish from
Hezekiah McDow (Goliad/Weiss) who finished by two sprinters from McNeese State with a time of 22.92 seconds. McDow was joined in the top ten by
Eden Perez (7th, 23.21) and
Tavion Parrish (Kyle/Johnson) (8th, 23.33).
Six of the top ten spots in the 600m run were held by Bulldogs led by a fifth place finish from Seguin-native
Ramiro Galvan (Seguin/Seguin).
Parker Cabra (Schertz/Randolph) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m (6' 4.75").
In throws, freshman Jake Gonzales (Lyford/Lyford) finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.58m (41' 3.25"). Beau Hill (Salado/Salado) finished eighth in the weight throw with a final mark of 12.55m (41' 2.25").
