SEGUIN, Texas -- Jonas Martinez (Edinburg/Homeschool) was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Runner of the Week the conference announced Tuesday morning.

The sophomore from Edinburg becomes the third Bulldog to win the award in the Bri Ratliff era dating back to the 2023 season. He was tabbed for the award after taking 28th place - finishing third among Division-III runners - at the UIW XC Classic last Friday. Martinez crossed the line in the four-mile race in a time of 20:42.9. His 5:11 pace was over 30 seconds faster than his running pace from last season's OLLU Westside Classic at the same course.

This is Martinez's first career SCAC weekly honor. Additionally, women's cross country runner Mackenzie Combs received this week's women's honor.
