HILLSBORO, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's and women's cross country programs competed in the Hill Cross Country Classic hosted by Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas, Friday night. The men placed third as a team while
Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) finished fourth in a race that saw the TLU women run as individuals.
Combs was the first Bulldog to cross in the 5K race at 19:28.91 to finish fourth of 91 runners that finished the race. The time ranked first among Division-III competitors.
Hope Dominguez (38th) (Alpine/Alpine) and
Maggy Moreman (79th) (Skidmore/Skidmore-Tynan), a member of the 2025 SCAC Championship Women's Basketball team competing in her first season as a member of the cross country team, concluded the Bulldogs trio of runners in the women's race.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs scored 116 points to finish in third place behind Dallas Baptist and Blinn College.
Jonas Martinez (Edinburg/Homeschool) paced TLU with a 15th place finish in 27:03.12, a new personal record that is the eighth fastest 8K time in program history. Martinez, like Combs, had the fastest time among Division-III runners in the meet.
Angel Miguel Hernandez (Luling/Luling) tallied a 26th place finish with a time of 27:27.25.
Lucas Falcon (40th) (Victoria/Victoria East),
Rees Snedaker (43rd) (Wallis/Brazos), and
Adrian De Los Santos (48th) (San Antonio/Holy Cross) rounded out the top five.
Texas Lutheran's cross country teams will enjoy nearly three weeks off before traveling to Clinton, Mississippi, for the Watson Collegiate Classic hosted by Mississippi College on Oct. 17.
