SEGUIN, Texas -- Coaches across the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) voted Texas Lutheran women's basketball to repeat as SCAC Champions, the league office announced Wednesday.
TLU, the reigning SCAC regular season and tournament champions, were picked to finish first overall in the league's order of finish. The Bulldogs earned seven first place votes and totaled 117 points. All voting was conducted by the conference's head coaches.
In 2025, Texas Lutheran secured 20 wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history and clinched a share of the SCAC Gold Division Regular Season Championship alongside McMurry before winning the 2025 SCAC Tournament.
The SCAC regular season and tournament championships were the third in program history. Head coach Troy Patterson returns 11 letterwinners, including three starters from last season's team that made it to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32.Â
Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) was the Bulldogs second leading scorer last season at 11.7 points per game and leader in assists at 3.4 per outing. Sansano, who has been a constant force since her first day on campus earned All-SCAC Second Team honors last season. Her 51.3 percent field goal shooting ranked third in the SCAC in field goal percentage and ranked fourth in free throw percentage (84.0%). Sansano earned a spot on the SCAC All-Tournament Team behind her 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.
In addition to Sansano, Texas Lutheran will be led by veteran guard Kayla Presley (Kyle/San Marcos) who returns after missing all but six games last season. Seniors Angelina Sotelo (San Marcos/San Marcos) and Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) will look to make another step up after career seasons that saw them earn All-SCAC Honorable Mention honors last season. Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet), who is currently playing for the TLU Volleyball team, came into her own late into her freshman season, becoming a force to be dealt with for opposing defenses.
Patterson added transfers Kiana Henning (San Antonio/Cornerstone Christian) and Jaidyn Trevino (Austin/Akins/Tallahassee State College) along with freshmen Jessietheresa Brisky (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) and Laura Sierra (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic).
Texas Lutheran opens the season against Hardin-Simmons on Friday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 PM in Abilene. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
