NORMAN, OK -- The Texas Lutheran women's track and field team opened its indoor season Friday at the Owen Hewett Invitational at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. The meet was mostly comprised of Division-I and Division-II teams with Hardin-Simmons, LeTourneau, St. Thomas, and Texas Lutheran representing Division-III.
Senior Ciara Cavazos (Needville/Needville) finished sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of ten seconds in the open section.
Katie Kostelnik (Hallettsville/Sacred Heart Catholic) finished ninth overall and third amongst Division-III sprinters in the 400m open section with a time of 1:02.73.
Freshman Mikayla Kidney (San Antonio/San Antonio Patriots) finished ninth in the 60m dash in her TLU debut with a time of 8.10 seconds.
In throws, Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park) finished sixth in the open section of the indoor shot put with a 11.47m (37' 7.75") mark. Kenna Kubenka (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) finished ninth in the open section of the indoor weight throw with a mark of 13.26m (43' 6").
