CLEBURNE, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran Baseball lost 12-2 in seven innings to LeTourneau and were eliminated from the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship Tournament on Sunday at La Moderna Field.
Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) and
Caleb Small (Round Rock/Gateway College Preparatory) both finished 2-for-3 with Small adding a double. In his final collegiate game, senior shortstop
Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) hit his first home run of the season and third of his career.
Jack Grames (Elgin/Elgin) started and pitched four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) and scattering five hits.
Vlario Prado (New Braunfels/San Marcos),
Cody Andrade (Calallen/Calallen),
Parker Schutte (Arlington/Lamar), and
Carson Hues (Mont Belvieu/Barbers Hill) all pitched in relief.
LeTourneau scored two runs in the second on two hits and an error.
Texas Lutheran scored their first two runs in the third as Bourgeois hit a one out, solo home run before the Bulldogs tied it up on an RBI single from
Cole Cravens (Round Rock/Round Rock).
The YellowJackets put the game away with a seven run fifth inning before tacking on two in the sixth and walking off the Bulldogs in the seventh with a two out walk off home run.
The Bulldogs - a team picked to finish fourth in the SCAC preseason poll - conclude the 2026 season with a 28-14 record, going 21-9 in the SCAC to finish as the 2026 SCAC Regular Season Champions. Texas Lutheran will graduate 13 seniors: Bourgeois, Sprencel, Schutte, Drew Burnett (Seguin/Seguin), Tyler Helpenstill (Houston/Lutheran South), Garrett Helpenstill (Houston/Lutheran South), Aiden Spires (Fort Worth/Arlington Heights), Mathew Elizondo (Eagle Pass/Eagle Pass), Triston McGowan (Vidor/Vidor), Kadyn Hall (La Grange/La Grange), Carter Conroy (Spring/Klein Cain), Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial), and Nolan Salinas. We thank them for all of their contributions to the Texas Lutheran baseball program - leaving the program as 2023 and 2026 SCAC Regular Season Champions.
