WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran and No. 14 LeTourneau have a two-stroke advantage as the two teams are tied for the overall lead after the first round of the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Golf Championship. Three Bulldogs find themselves in the top ten after the opening round at Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas.
As a team, Texas Lutheran had a round one total score of 292 (+4). The opening round mark of 292 is the lowest opening round score at the SCAC Championships since Trinity fired an opening 289 in 2023 at Riverhill Country Club. The two squads both posted 17 birdies in the first round to lead the field.
Senior
Van Miller (Katy/Seven Lakes) leads the Bulldogs with a 70 (-2), fueled by six birdies, to sit in fourth place after the first 18 holes.
Miller is two strokes ahead of teammates
Shea Eason (Round Rock/Round Rock) and
Cooper Hollomon (Bellville/Bellville) who joined him in the top ten in a tie for sixth place at even-par.
Brandon Munson (Livingston/Livingston) finished tied for 33rd (+6) while
Octavio Cantu (Mission/Sharyland) was a stroke behind at seven-over to tie for 39th to conclude the scoring for the Bulldogs lineup.
The Bulldogs will begin moving day tomorrow morning with the tournament streamed on FloCollege.
