SEGUIN, Texas -- Emerald St. Laurent (The Woodlands/Oak Ridge), a senior on the Texas Lutheran women's basketball team, has been selected as the SCAC Character and Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning with March 30th.
The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
By day, you can find the The Woodlands, Texas, native thriving in the classroom as well as on the court as St. Laurent has been a leader off the bench for the Bulldogs over her four seasons with the Bulldogs. St. Laurent, a member of the 2025 SCAC Championship team, has been a two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team honoree as a double major in Psychology and Theology as she prepares to get her master's at Texas State in counseling.
Off the floor, St. Laurent has been an active member of campus from her first day as a freshman. She serves as a Senior Resident Assistant (RA), a coordinator for TLU's center for servant leadership while also serving as an officer on the Campus Activities Board (CAB). St. Laurent is a member of the Xi Tau sorority as well as a member of the Theology and Psychology honors societies. Despite her busy schedule on campus. St. Laurent also works with Eden Court, a senior living apartment complex in Seguin,to help plan agents for the residents and help coordinate student volunteers to come and help them too.
When asked what character and community means to her St. Laurent stated, "To me, community service is about showing up for others, giving without expecting anything in return, and helping build something bigger than myself."
