SEGUIN, Texas -- After the CenTex Invite was cut short due to weather a few weeks ago, Texas Lutheran track and field completed its first full meet of outdoor season, hosting the annual TLU Invite at Bulldog Stadium this weekend where the host Bulldogs won five events.
Freshman Laura Sierra (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic), fresh off finishing her first season with the TLU Women's Basketball team, highlighted the event for the Bulldogs, winning both the shot put and discus throw. Sierra won the shot put with a mark of 11.59m (38' 0.25") and won the discus with a mark of 37.12m (121' 9").
Ciarah Garcia (Pleasanton/Pleasanton) won the 400m dash with a time of 58.40 seconds while adding a second place finish in the triple jump with a final mark of 10.77m (35' 4").
For the second straight year, Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial) left the TLU Invite with a win. After winning the 1500m run last year, Malbrough won the 800m run on Saturday with a time of 2:23.50.
Not to be outdone, her fellow distance teammate Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) won the 5000m run clocking in with a time of 18:23.14.
Sage Bartlett (Buda/Johnson) led the Bulldogs in a TLU dominate 100m hurdle field, finishing third with a time of 16.42 seconds while Kamilah Tanner (Killeen/Robert M. Shoemaker) finished fifth at 16.60 seconds. Bartlett also finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.38.
The Texas Lutheran 4x100m relay team comprised of Bartlett, Ciarah Garcia, Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen), and Mikayla Kidney (San Antonio/San Antonio Patriots) finished third with a time of 49.12 seconds.
Also in throws, Kidney finished fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 35.15m (115' 4"). Kirsten Smith (Yoakum/Yoakum) earned a runner-up finish in the hammer throw and javelin throw with marks of 41.28m (135' 5") and 30.45m (99' 11") respectively. Madison Wright (San Antonio/Lee) and Emagen Styra (Nordheim/Nordheim) finished third and fourth in the javelin throw with final marks of 29.85m (97' 11") and 28.27m (92' 9"). Kenna Kubenka (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) finished fourth in the hammer throw at 36.89m (121' 0").

Texas Lutheran will split up next week between the David Noble Relays at Angelo State and the Charles Austin Classic at Texas State with both meets starting on Friday, March 27.
