SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- No. 11 Texas Lutheran Baseball was unable to dig out of an early deficit and lost 16-3 to No. 16 Trinity in seven innings on Tuesday at TU Baseball Field in San Antonio. The Bulldogs will turn the page to the ETBU Baseball Tournament this weekend starting with a doubleheader against #RV Mary Hardin-Baylor and East Texas Baptist on Friday. Trinity scored three runs in the first on a three-run homer. TLU scratched across a run in the second on a bases loaded, RBI groundout from
Aiden Spires (Fort Worth/Arlington Heights) before the Tigers responded with another three-run homer in the bottom of the inning. Trinity tacked on nine more runs in the third to jump out to a 15-3 lead.
Carson Hues (Mont Belvieu/Barbers Hill) started and took the loss to drop to 0-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs final two runs came in the top of the third on a two-RBI single from
Kadyn Hall (La Grange/La Grange).
Cole Cravens (Round Rock/Round Rock) finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Hall was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
The Tigers tacked on another run in the fifth to put the game away.
Caden Salamanca (Missouri City/Ridge Point) and
Carter Conroy (Spring/Klein Cain) closed out the game with a scoreless final 1.2 in relief.
