HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place in the final standings at the Space City Classic hosted by St. Thomas at Gus Wortham Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs closed the event with a round of 285, their best round of the tournament, finishing with a 54-hole total of 887, 35-over par to finish tied for fifth with Hardin-Simmons. No. 13 Southwestern won the event with an 853 tally at the par-71 course, winning the tournament by just three strokes over Trinity.
St. Thomas' Antonio Ramirez posted a four-under total of 209 to claim first-place - winning the event by a single stroke.
Sophomore Cooper Hollomon (Bellville/Bellvile) led the Bulldogs with a third place finish, carding a two-under par total of 211. Hollomon climbed six spots on the leaderboard shooting his best round of the 54-hole tournament - carding three-under on Tuesday. Brandon Munson (Livingston/Livingston) finished tied for 19th at eight-over par (221) while Van Miller (Katy/Seven Lakes) finished two strokes behind at ten-over (223) to finish tied for 25th.
Octavio Cantu (Mission/Sharyland) finished tied for 40th with a final tally of 232 to finish 19-over par and Shea Eason (Round Rock/Round Rock) rounded out the Bulldogs participants at 26-over par to tie for 44th.
Texas Lutheran returns to action next week (March 16-17) at the Kingsmen Invitational at Course at Moorpark CC in Moorpark, California.
