#RV Baseball Takes LeTourneau Series

LONGVIEW, Texas -- After dropping the series opener on Friday, the #RV Texas Lutheran Baseball team picked up a pair of wins over LeTourneau on Saturday to sweep the doubleheader and win the series with 8-6 and 6-3 comeback victories at Conrad-Vernon Field in Longview.

In Saturday's first game, Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial) wnt 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Cole Cravens (Round Rock/Round Rock) went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Parker Schutte (Arlington/Lamar) had a clutch relief outing, pitching the final two innings in shutout fashion to record his second save of the season. Jack Grames (Elgin/Elgin) got the start, pitching seven innings and allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven.

A two-RBI double from Adam Peavy got the scoring started in the first inning before Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays) and Cole Cravens followed up with RBI singles to give TLU an early 4-0 lead. Peavy tacked on another run for TLU with an RBI single in the second inning.

LeTourneau answered and slowly chipped away at the TLU lead - tying the game and overtaking the Bulldogs in the seventh inning.

The Bulldogs jumped back into the lead in the eighth inning to go up 7-6 after RBI singles from Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) and Michael Barrera (San Antonio/East Central).

A sacrifice fly from Cravens tacked on an insurance run in the ninth. LeTourneau was able to get the tying run on with just one out but the ball would never leave the infield again as Schutte was able to close out the win.

Small went 1-for-4 with the two-run home run in the eighth. Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) and Kadyn Hall (La Grange/La Grange) each finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Triston McGowan (Vidor/Vidor) went the distance Saturdat evening, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks in his complete game effort.

The Bulldogs scored a run in the first on a sacrifice bunt from Peavy. An RBI triple from Chase Bourgeois doubled the lead to 2-0 in the second inning.
