HOUSTON, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball pounded out 11 runs on seven hits and nine walks to open the series at St. Thomas with an 11-2 win at Reckling Park, home of the Rice Owls, in Houston.
Isaiah Ramirez (San Antonio/Marshall) allowed two runs over six innings to pick up his second win of the season. He struck out six batters over his six innings of work.
Three Bulldogs finished Friday night with multiple RBI,
Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays) and
Adam Peavy (Houston/Memorial) drove in three runs each while
Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) added two RBI.
Michael Barrera (San Antonio/East Central) was 1-for-4 with four runs scored.
Texas Lutheran opened the scoring right away with two runs in the first inning on an RBI double from Peavy and an RBI single from Jen.
The Bulldogs added three runs in the third on a pair of RBI groundouts from Peavy and Jen before tacking on a final run on a St. Thomas error.
St. Thomas got a pair of runs back with runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
After a one out double from
Cole Cravens (Round Rock/Round Rock), the Bulldogs started a walk parade around the bases as six straight walks with two outs led to four runs for TLU in the eighth.
An RBI double from Barrera and an RBI single from Sprencel capped the scoring in the ninth inning.
Parker Schutte (Arlington/Lamar) pitched two shutout innings in relief to finish off the game.
