SEGUIN, Texas -- Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning.

The New Braunfels native earned the honor after finishing 29th overall and third among Division-III runners at last week's UIW XC Invitational. Combs ran the 5K course in 19:04.6. This pace is nearly 20 seconds faster than her eighth place finish at the course two years ago in the OLLU Classic in a 6K race.

Combs earned the third women's SCAC Runner of the Week award of the year, the first of the season for a Bulldog, and the second of her career. Additionally, men's cross country runner Jonas Martinez received this week's men's honor.
