GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran cross country teams completed the Stormy Seas Opener meet at Southwestern University Saturday morning. Freshman
Prince Medrano (Seguin/Seguin) led the TLU men, while junior
Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) paced the TLU women.
The day started off with the men's 5K, where Texas Lutheran would take fourth place behind Texas, Blinn College, and St. Thomas. Freshman
Prince Medrano finished first on the team and tenth overall in 15:57.15 in his first collegiate meet.
Jonas Martinez (19th) (Edinburg/Homeschool),
Lucas Falcon (21st) (Victoria/Victoria East),
Rees Snedaker (26th) (Wallis/Brazos), and
Adrian De Los Santos (42nd) (San Antonio/Holy Cross) combined with Medrano for 112 points.
On the women's side, Combs finished as the team's leader with a tenth place finish as she finished the 5K course in 19:24.83. The time was first amongst Division-III runners. Sophomore
Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial) was the second to finish for Texas Lutheran, placing 26th, with
Hope Dominguez (Alpine/Alpine) (37th),
Emma Etzler (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) (67th), and
Kaylen Serrano (Sinton/Sinton) (70th) rounding out the top five.
Texas Lutheran's cross country teams will travel to the San Antonio area for the UIW Invitational on Sept. 12.
