SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran defensive back Owen Garcia (Austin/Connally) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the publication announced Tuesday morning.

Garcia delivered a dominant performance in the Bulldogs 55-27 win over Centenary (LA) Saturday night in Shreveport. The Austin native was all over the field, recording a career-high 12 tackles including nine solo tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in the victory.

The honor marks Garcia's second weekly award this week, as he was also recognized Monday as the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week following his standout performance against the Gents.

The Bulldogs (2-3, 1-0 SCAC) return to Seguin to continue SCAC play on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they host Hendrix College at 1 PM. Saturday will be packed with festivities as it will act as the annual Breast Cancer Awareness and Military Appreciation games as well as Senior Day with the Bulldogs honoring a 20-member senior class.
