SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran fell to the rival Trinity Tigers, 1-0, in a hard fought match on Friday night at Gustafson Field.
Trinity (7-0) scored the game's only goal in the 61st minute. TLU totaled three shots in the game with one coming on target.
Texas Lutheran (6-2) was able to withstand a half that saw the Tigers dominate possession thanks to a backline led by captain
Monica Sitachitta (Spring/Grand Oaks) to keep the match tied 0-0 through the opening 45 minutes.
Both defenses held strong in the second half as the game's intensity raised as the sun set and the game went later into Friday night.
It would be 2025 SAA Rookie of the Year Lila Brackin who would break through for Trinity, breaking the scoreless draw in the 61st minute with her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
TLU's lone shot to equalize came from
Lilly Noblett (San Antonio/Warren) in the 86th minute but was turned away by the Trinity goalkeeper.
Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) finished with five saves in the match.
The Bulldogs will look to rebound in their non-conference finale on Sunday, September 27, against Southwestern. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM with the match being streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
