SEGUIN, Texas -- D3football.com has announced Texas Lutheran safety
Adrian Sanchez (Glen Rose/Glen Rose) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week following Sanchez's Week 3 showing in TLU's 57-26 win over Austin College. This is Sanchez's second weekly honor after also being named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Sanchez is the seventh Bulldog and fourth defensive back of the LaHue era to earn the Team of the Week honor. He joins
Owen Garcia (2025), Mason Hardy (2022), and
Malik Johnson (2026), who are all previous honorees.
Sanchez tallied a career-best three interceptions in the Bulldogs win over Austin College this past weekend, making him the first Bulldog to record three interceptions in a single-game since David Garcia intercepted three passes against McMurry in 2004. He finished one interception short of matching Vernon Fewell's single-game record of four interceptions set in 1962 set against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi.
He is currently tied for the national Division-III lead with four interceptions on the season and is second in interceptions per game (1.33) after also recording an interception against Trinity in Week 1.
Next up, TLU travels to Marshall on Saturday, September 26, for a 1 PM matchup at East Texas Baptist. The game will be broadcast on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
