SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran defensive back Malik Johnson (Paris/Paris) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the publication announced late Monday night.

While only recording two tackles, Johnson collected two of the Bulldogs three interceptions on the night in their 19-10 win over Southwestern at Bulldog Stadium.

Johnson's first interception came on the Pirates first drive of the second quarter, leaping into the Seguin night sky to make the play across the middle of the field. His second interception came just two drives later as he picked off a screen play and returned it 28 yards for his first career pick-six that served as the Bulldogs first touchdown of the night. The pick-six gave the Bulldogs a lead they would never relinquish.

The honor marks Johnson's second weekly award this week, as he was also recognized Monday as the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week following his standout performance against the Pirates.

Texas Lutheran continues its non-conference schedule next Saturday (Sept. 19), hosting Austin College at Bulldog Stadium in the first of two matchups with the 'Roos in 2026.
