SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran cross country teams returned to San Antonio on Saturday morning, competing in the UIW XC Invitational at Windcrest Golf Club in a D1 and D2-laden field.
The men's 8K started Saturday's action as Texas Lutheran would finish 11th as a team.
Angel Miguel Hernandez (Luling/Luling) led the Bulldogs pack with a 64th place finish at 28:22. Rounding out the scorers for the Bulldogs were
Lukas Cruz (Willis/Willis),
Christian Jardon (Sinton/Sinton),
Ckristofer Ramos (Gonzales/Gonzales), and Roberto Espinzoa (San Antonio/Harlan) with finishes of 92nd, 101st, 103rd, and 104th respectively.
On the women's side, senior
Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) once again finished as the team's leader with a 17th place finish as she finished the 5K course in 18:13. The time was third amongst Division-III runners. Freshman
Brooklyn Van Niekerk (Magnolia/Tomball Memorial) was the second to finish for Texas Lutheran, placing 57th, with
Hope Dominguez (Alpine/Alpine) (77th),
Kaylen Serrano (Sinton/Sinton), and
MJ Ellis (Leander/Rouse) (92nd), rounding out the top five.
Texas Lutheran's cross country teams will take the rest of the month off before returning to the San Antonio area for the OLLU Invitational on Oct. 3.
