Bulldogs Pace West Region with Six NFCA All-Region Honorees

Clark, Howard, Vannett, Bowyer, Gonzalez, and Davila Tabbed to Team

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Softball was honored with six selections to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region Team as announced Friday, May 15. TLU's six picks tied with East Texas Baptist for a region best.

Texas Lutheran receives five or more All-Region honorees for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Three TLU players received first team nods while two landed on the second team and one found a place on the third team.

Caelee Clark (Montgomery/Lake Creek), Riley Davila (Angleton/Angleton), and Katelyn Howard (Waller/Hempstead) were all selected to the first team. Serena Gonzalez (Corpus Christi/Foy H. Moody) and Taylor Vannett (Kingwood/Kingwood) earned second team recognition and Cady Bowyer (Fulshear/Jordan) was tabbed to the third team.

The Bulldogs have earned 68 All-Region honors during head coach Wade Wilson's tenure.

Clark, a four-time All-Region honoree, earns her first career First Team All-Region honor. The 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Player of the Year earned her fourth All-SCAC First Team honor. On Friday, Clark became the first player in NCAA history to reach 300 career stolen bases. Clark has started every game for No. 3 TLU and led the team throughout the season in batting average, on-base percentage, hits, runs, walks, and stolen bases. She has consistently ranked in the top ten nationally in hits, runs, and stolen bases. The NCAA's all-time career stolen base leader has stolen 83 bases on 86 attempts to lead all of college softball and has been exceptional at second base for TLU, turning seven double plays with a .984 fielding percentage. She is on pace to become the first athlete in SCAC softball history to lead the league in hits in three different seasons and historically currently ranks second all-time with 253 hits.

Davila has been steady all year in her first year with TLU, earning the first all-region honor of her TLU career after earning all-region honors in her two seasons at Angelina College. The outfielder was a First Team All-SCAC pick and is hitting .450 with 11 extra base hits, 39 stolen bases, and 34 RBI in 44 starts.

Howard earns her first career all-region honor following a 2026 regular season that saw the senior named SCAC Pitcher of the Year and earn All-SCAC First Team honors. The senior tallies a 21-1 record and four SCAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Gonzalez was recently named NFCA National Player of the Week and to the SCAC All-Tournament Team after batting .600 with two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored at the 2026 SCAC Championship Tournament. Gonzalez earned SCAC Hitter of the Week honors once this season and nursed a 15-game hitting streak earlier this season. This is her third all-region honor as she is currently hitting .441 with 51 RBI and a team-high seven homers.

Vannett earned all-region second team honors and has been a model of consistency for the Bulldogs at and behind the plate as an All-SCAC First Team honoree. The senior was named the final SCAC Hitter of the Week of the 2026 season and broke the TLU and SCAC single-season RBI record on Friday. Vannett's production really boomed in SCAC play as she drove in 55 of her 63 RBI in league competition, clubbing a home run in three of those contests. Vannett ranks in the top ten nationally in RBIs.

Bowyer, a 2025 First Team All-Region honoree at Galveston, lands on the NFCA All-Region team for the first time as a Bulldog. Carrying a big bat and a patient eye, Bowyer ranks in the top ten in the SCAC in homers and RBI. A 2026 All-SCAC Tournament honoree, Bowyer hit .500 in the 2026 SCAC Tournament and is currently hitting .750 with six RBI in the 2026 NCAA Seguin Regional.

NFCA All-American teams will be announced on May 27.

The Bulldogs continue play in the NCAA Seguin Regional on Saturday as they move on to meet the 13th-ranked Huntingdon Hawks in the NCAA Seguin Regional final. First pitch is scheduled for 11 AM at Ed Kruse Stadium with the "if-necessary" game set for a 1:30 PM start. The game will be broadcast on ncaa.com.
