SEGUIN, Texas -- A week after being named All-SCAC First Team and an All-SCAC Tournament Team member, Texas Lutheran senior slugger
Serena Gonzalez (Corpus Christi/Foy H. Moody) was chosen by the NFCA as the organization's final Player of the Week of the 2026 season Tuesday afternoon.
The honor is Gonzalez's third career NFCA Player of the Week selection after earning the honors in April 2023 and 2025. Gonzalez is one of three Bulldog student-athletes to be selected as the NFCA's National Pitcher/Player of the Week on multiple occasions alongside Maitlin Raycroft and Ashlyn Strother, with Gonzalez being the first to earn the honor three times in a career.
Gonzalez keyed the Bulldogs to a SCAC Tournament Championship, batting .600 with two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored. She led TLU in the SCAC Championship game with a 4-for-4, two home run, four RBI showing with two runs scored. Gonzalez tied former teammate
Kylee Jack for the single game total base record with ten total bases in last Monday's championship. Gonzalez also became the first player since 2021 and the eighth player in conference history to hit two home runs in a single SCAC Tournament game and the first ever to do so in a SCAC Championship game. Gonzalez is the second player with two home runs in a single SCAC Tournament game, joining current TLU assistant coach
Kyla Lockley '18.
