SHREVEPORT, LA --  A four-point game with just over one minute remaining following a second-half surge from Texas Lutheran came up just short, as TLU fell 67-64 Tuesday night in the Gold Dome in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Texas Lutheran (8-11, 3-7 SCAC) struggled early as they found themselves down 22-8 to Centenary (7-12, 5-5 SCAC) just over halfway through the first half.

The Gents would lead by as many as 18 points, however, a 10-0 run ending with 1:30 left before halftime made it an eight point game. The Gents would take a 37-29 lead at the half.

The teams traded baskets and free throws to start the second half but the Gents lead would slowly stretch back into double digits. The Gents lead would eventually push to 12 but the Bulldogs continued to fight.

The Bulldogs whittled down the Gents lead to six entering the final two minutes as Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) converted an and-one opportunity. Layups from Kris Jones (Port Aransas/Port Aransas) and Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor) shrunk the lead to one point with 58 seconds left following Orozco converting an and-one of his own.

Centenary sunk a pair of free throws to extend their lead to three with 32 seconds left. Following a miss from Jones, Semaj Edwards (Lanham, MD/Oak Hill) was fouled on a potential game-tying three, but would only make two out of three attempts with five seconds left. The Gents lead returned to three following a pair of free throws. Edwards would look to replicate his last second heroics from Saturday's game against Colorado College but his shot would rim out as time expired.

Semaj Edwards led the trio of Bulldogs in double figures with 14 points. Teddy Tapken (Austin/Lake Travis) added 13 points and nine rebounds while Isaac Orozco was the final Bulldog in double figures with ten points and three steals.

The Bulldogs will look to rebound on Saturday, Feb. 7, as they face the Austin College 'Roos. Tip-off is set for 4 PM. The game will be streamed on FloCollege. Saturday will also act as Senior Night as the Bulldogs honor their five seniors: Ben Coulombe '25, Semaj Edwards, Darren Ford Jr. (San Antonio/Veterans Memorial), Isaac Orozco, and Mason Wallace.
