Box Score SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's tennis picked up their first win of the season Friday afternoon after defeating Howard Payne 4-3 at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center.
Despite winning one match by default, the Bulldogs would drop the doubles point after dropping both the matches that were physically played 1-6.
The Bulldogs would rally to win four out of six singles matches to seal the victory. Adison Ortega (San Antonio/Smithson Valley), Isabella Hill (Pearland/Pearland) and Cassandra Benavides (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) all won by default to put the Bulldogs in front 3-1. Texas Lutheran would lose the first two flights as the match sat at 3-3. Isabella Barber won the decisive singles match in the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the victory.
Texas Lutheran will travel to Alpine, Texas, to face Division-II Sul Ross State on Friday, March 6 in the first of two matches against the Lobos next weekend. First serve is scheduled for 2 PM.
