SEGUIN, Texas -- Following a dominant SCAC opening weekend, Texas Lutheran senior Katelyn Howard (Waller/Hempstead) repeats as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday night.

The right-hander tossed 13 innings and earned three wins against McMurry to open conference play. Howard threw a complete game shutout in game one, allowing just four hits. She was exceptional in the circle again in game three, tossing all six innings and allowing just one unearned run on five hits and no walks to go with five strikeouts.

She finished the weekend with eight strikeouts, 12 hits allowed, and no walks - allowing just two runs (one earned) across her 13 innings of work.

This is the second SCAC weekly honor of the Waller, Texas, native's career. 

Since pitching coach James Fuqua joined the staff in 2020, the Bulldogs have earned 26 SCAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Texas Lutheran softball team returns to action in Seguin for a three-game series with No. 19 St. Thomas at Ed Kruse Stadium, Feb. 20-21. First pitch of Friday's single-game is scheduled for 6 PM.
