COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Colorado College nailed 13 threes to claim a 63-53 victory over #RV Texas Lutheran Sunday afternoon at Reid Arena.
The Bulldogs struggles started early as they only mustered six points in the first quarter on 13.3 percent shooting, trailing 18-6 after the opening period. The two teams evened out everywhere else but from beyond the arc after the first as the 13 threes from the Tigers proved to be too much from the Bulldogs to overcome.
Senior forward
Davi'Yanna Jones (San Antonio/Stevens) led TLU in scoring with 15 points and three steals. Fellow Stevens High School alum,
Callista Perez (San Antonio/Stevens) was the only other Bulldog in double figures with ten points and five rebounds.
TLU was unable to cut into the Tiger lead in the second half as they stretched their lead to 19 entering the halftime break.
The Bulldogs outscored Colorado College 22-13 in the third quarter led by nine points from Jones.
Despite cutting the lead to ten entering the fourth, the Bulldogs were never able to get the deficit to single digits, falling 63-53.
With the loss, Texas Lutheran's magic number to clinch a spot in the SCAC Tournament remains at one. With the Bulldogs next win or St. Thomas loss, they will punch their ticket to the 2026 SCAC Tournament in Conway, Arkansas.
The Bulldogs will begin the final week of the regular season by traveling to Kerrville to face off against Schreiner on Friday, Feb. 20. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM. The game will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
