HOUSTON, Texas -- TLU extended its win streak to four games after a 1-0 victory over St. Thomas Friday night at SaberCats Stadium in Houston.
For the second time in three games and fifth time this season, senior
Natalia Cortez (Edinburg/Robert Vela) scored the game-winner, the game's only goal.
Cortez scored her goal on a free kick just outside the penalty box in the 73rd minute. The five game-winners are the fourth-most in a single-season in program history.
The Bulldogs defense was superb yet again, only allowing one shot on goal and three shots total while recording their seventh shutout of the season. Senior goalkeeper
Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) earned the shutout, her fifth solo shutout of the year. TLU has yet to concede a goal in conference play.
TLU improves to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in SCAC play. St. Thomas falls to 4-6-2, 2-1.
