Colorado College Ends Bulldog Winning Streaks, 62-50

SEGUIN, Texas -- Colorado College shot 45 percent from the field and nailed seven threes to claim a 62-50 victory over #RV Texas Lutheran Saturday night at Memorial Gymnasium, ending the Bulldogs nine-game win streak and run of seven-straight home victories.

The Bulldogs struggles started early, despite forcing eight Tigers turnovers, the Bulldogs trailed 13-12 after shooting just 21 percent as a team in the first quarter. The Tigers offense only improved from their 41 percent shooting performance in the first quarter while the TLU offense was ice cold throughout the night to suffer their first loss in SCAC play.

Senior guard Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) led TLU in scoring with 18 points, while Davi'Yanna Jones (San Antonio/Stevens) and Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) added nine and eight points respectively. With her first rebound of the night, Sarahi Jones became just the seventh Bulldog in the program's NCAA history to eclipse the 500-rebound mark.

Texas Lutheran displayed intense pressure early on the defensive end, scoring six of their 12 first quarter points off turnovers.

The Tigers went on a 24-6 run over the course of the second quarter to carry a 19-point cushion of 37-18 into the half.

The Bulldogs offensive woes continued in the third quarter, as they shot just 28 percent from the field. The Bulldogs forced eight Tigers turnovers while not turning the ball over at all in the third but were only able to yield six points from the turnovers. Callista Perez (San Antonio/Stevens) and Sansano combined for ten points as the Bulldogs trimmed the Tiger lead to 14 entering the fourth.

The Tigers lead settled around 14 for a majority of the fourth with the Bulldogs never coming closer than eight points. The Bulldogs had their best shooting performance of the night in the fourth, outscoring the Tigers 15-13 on 43 percent shooting. The Bulldogs second half comeback attempt fell short despite only turning the ball over once to the Tigers 13 second half turnovers. The Tigers 13 turnovers only led to ten points for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, to face off against Centenary on Tueday, Feb. 3. Tip-off is set for 7 PM. The game will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
