SEGUIN, Texas -- Every year, the San Antonio Area Baseball Coaches Association (SAABCA) honors a chosen few exceptional coaches who make outstanding contributions to the development of their baseball program, to their players, and to the game itself. For 2025, Texas Lutheran University's Director of Athletics
Bill Miller '77 was inducted into the SAABCA Hall of Honor.
Miller is a La Grange High School graduate, and was a pitcher and first baseman on the 1973 Leps state title baseball team. He is the son of the late Wilbert "Red" Miller and Marilyn Miller.
Miller is the Texas Lutheran University Athletic Director and retired in 2007 as the head baseball coach at Texas Lutheran. His winning percentage of .734 is the second highest among all-time TLU head coaches. He retired after 15 years and 530 wins with the Bulldog baseball team.
"I was tremendously honored to receive this award," Miller said. "I have not coached since 2007, so to receive such an award at this point in my career was very surprising."
Miller said SAABCA is an outstanding organization. "To be honored by other baseball coaches is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Baseball is all about players. I was extremely privileged to have coached a lot of great players, especially at Texas Lutheran."
The SAABCA, a nonprofit organization, exists to promote baseball, to connect coaches, and to provide resources.
