SEGUIN, Texas -- Despite 18 points from Semaj Edwards (Lanham, MD/Oak Hill), the Texas Lutheran men's basketball team (8-7, 3-3 SCAC) dropped its Saturday evening SCAC matchup with McMurry 84-71 at Memorial Gymnasium.

Edwards led the Bulldogs with 18 points and five rebounds while Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) finished with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Teddy Tapken (Austin/Lake Travis) would be the final Bulldog in double figures with 12 points and a team-high six rebounds. 

Texas Lutheran trailed 31-23 at halftime, succumbing to the War Hawks massive advantage on the glass as the War Hawks held a 27-16 rebound advantage that included 13 offensive boards. The Bulldogs trailed by as many as ten points in the first half. The Bulldogs would never take the lead in the second half. A three-pointer from Kolin Polk (Lafayette, LA/Manvel (TX)) shrunk the McMurry lead to one with with 10:16 remaining. That's the closest the Bulldogs would come in the second half as the game quickly got away from them in the second half as McMurry went on a 23-4 run to take a 20-point lead with five minutes remaining.

The two teams shot similar percentages from the field on Saturday but rebounding, second chance buckets and points off turnovers, which the Bulldogs ended the game in a 23-11 deficit, swung the game in the War Hawks favor.

The Bulldogs will look to rebound on Friday, Jan. 23, as they face continue SCAC play with a road matchup against LeTourneau. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM. The game will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
