GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball was swept by 16th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan, 25-15, 25-15, 25-19 in their final match of the 2025 SU Invitational on the campus of Southwestern University in Georgetown.
The Bulldogs (2-4) will be back in action next Friday in Rome, Georgia, at 4:30 PM EST against 5th-ranked Emory College before facing hosts of the Mount Berry Tournament, 24th-ranked Berry College at 7 PM EST. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
Ryann Ely (Montgomery/Concordia Lutheran) led the Bulldogs with 14 kills. Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) dished out a career-high 24 assists, while Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera) and Ryleigh Jordan (San Antonio/Clark) finished with a team-high 12 digs. Gamboa added 11 digs for her third double-double of the season.
The Titans opened the match with a 7-1 run and never looked back, winning the opening set 25-15. The second set was more of the same as eight Titans aces powered the Titans to a 25-15 set win and a 2-0 lead.
The third set was a lot more competitive as the Bulldogs battled the highly touted Titans throughout the third set. After a 13-13 tie halfway through the set, Illinois Wesleyan pulled away to secure the sweep with a 25-19 set win.
