ROME, GA -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball was swept by 6th-ranked Emory, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 in their opening match at the 2025 Mount Berry Tournament on the campus of Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
The Bulldogs (2-5) will be back in action on Friday at 7 PM ET against tournament host, No. 21 Berry. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
Maselina Tuufuli (Saint Hedwing/Steele) led the Bulldogs with eight kills and a block. Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) dished out 10 assists, while Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera) finished with a team-high 13 digs.
After a back and forth start in the first set that saw the Eagles hold a narrow 11-10 lead, Emory used a 9-0 run to pull away for a 25-16 win to open the match. The Eagles hit .300 while holding the Bulldogs to just a .029 hitting percentage.
The Eagles grabbed a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-18 win in the second set as the highly touted Eagles used smaller runs to slowly pull away from the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead and led 6-5 before the momentum swung back Emory's way as a 7-2 run helped the Eagles pull away to complete the sweep.
