GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball was swept by #RV Southwestern, 25-15, 25-11, 25-19 in their opening match at the 2025 SU Invitational on the campus of Southwestern University in Georgetown.
The Bulldogs (2-2) will be back in action on Friday at 12 PM against Puget Sound before racing 16th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan at 6 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
Briana Salvatierra-Moore led the Bulldogs with eight kills. Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) dished out 14 assists, while Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera) finished with a team-high 21 digs.
After a back and forth start in the first set, Southwestern used a 7-2 run to pull away for a 25-15 win to open the match. The Pirates hit .387 while holding the Bulldogs to just a .067 hitting percentage.
The Pirates grabbed a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-11 win in the second set as the Pirates jumped out to a big lead early in the set and cruised the rest of the way.
The Bulldogs held a 12-10 lead in the third set before Southwestern rattled off a 15-7 run to close the match to complete the sweep with a 25-19 win.
